Is ACN a Pyramid Scam?

On 23 March 2005 Justice Selway found that ACN participated in, promoted and induced or attempted to induce persons to take part in a pyramid selling scheme in contravention of section 65AAC of the Act, and that Mr Martin Paech, an ACN director, aided and abetted and was knowingly concerned in those contraventions.

The court also found that Mr Keith Janke and Mr Jonathon Gibbs, two ACN Independent Representatives, were knowingly concerned in and aided and abetted the contraventions, and Gibbschade Pty Ltd participated in the pyramid selling scheme, and attempted to induce other persons to participate in the scheme, in contravention of the Act."

Sounds like a sketchy situation all the way around. I feel sorry for the marketing team trying to clean this one up. Hopefully they have insurance in place if needed.

I got talked into ACN and wasn't told many things. The person that Piqued me, and I hate that word, told me she was already making money. When I said, show me a check she said oh, I already cashed it. She baught a new car saying ACN baught it. But after spending tons of money out of 401 K plans she is telling me this has to work we are going loose our house. My husband and I are doing this no matter what it takes. I was just simply told get to business partners and 20 cutomers. You get paid for your own services as well. I wasn't told until after I paid the $ 500.00 that I had to be qualified to start making money which isn't true anyway. You have to be ETT to start making any money and that is only going to happen if your business partners are qualified. I really feel duped because I signed up about 1.5 weeks before they announced the IRIS 3000 and purchased the IRIS 2000. ACN offered reps the OPPORTUNITY to buy an upgrade for different prices based on how long you were in ACN. I would have to pay $ 145.00 for an up grade after I had just shelled out $ 500.00 plus $ 99.00 plus shipping, handling and first month activation fee. So now I have an obsolete video phone which I did pitch, but then had people say, well why don't you don't have the new phone. I then baught the website product and satellite switch. So I would get qualified. For those that were new they should of been given the phone for a song considering they are offered for free to customers. Those that are supposedly making it big in ACN should pay the higher price not the newby. ACN is trying to make believe this is a doable MLM, but yet, sucking the blood right out of you. I have been told you MUST go to Sat. trainning and the conventions to be successful. The next one in Anaheim is in Dec. 3 days and early bird sign up is $ 109.00. I cannot see spending money to be hyped up for a few days and then crash. You then see the bills come in from credit card debt. I have made the decision that the innser small voice that says this just isn't right will be listened to. I cannot in this economy with good conscience tell friends and family to give to a company $ 500.00 + all the other costs that you find out about after you sign up and hope they can convince somebody to duplicate what you did which is dupe them. I recently heard that some RVP's are having meeting and charging anywhere from 25.00 to 75.00 to hear tem speak. If they are so financially up there and want their down line to produce then why are they charging the starving to succeed? It's all a numbers and spend your money game. and nothing more. So now I have a worthless video phone that nobody wants because it's only compatable with the same phone. What happens in the supposed 3/5 yrs. when phones are all digital ? will Acn make them compatable with Radio Shacks design ? I have nobody including upline accept for once " the Modesto Force " call me on the video phone. My sponsor into this nightmare has called me on the video phone 3 times since May. If you think this might be a good thing, re think it and before you sign up talk to friend and see if they will even buy services from you or if what I found out are they in or out of contracts with their services. That is the biggest problem here is maybe 16 years ago when electronics were just booming this would have been good to get customers. But now, most everybody is in contract. Heck, when I signed up I was in contract with my cells for another 18 months. The person that signed me up well,do what I did and just pay the penalty and get a 500.00 phone for free and get paid for using your cell service. I thought WHAT ! spend 200.00 are you nuts ! and this person is loosing her house and in the same breath saying you have to spend money to make money. If you find that your friends are not able to purchase a service through you than don't throw your money away and think this is the fix all. Somebody who went to the Detroit Convention told me that ACN is going to be a feature on KNBC and that ACN says it will accelerate everybodys business. So much for word of mouth only. MY gut feeling is that this is going to be more like a hard copy story and the dirty little secrets will come out. Before that it was wow ! if you live in Illegal alien country get the those phones out to them Mexico is the next country to be ACN land. Those people live in a third world country loaded with corruption and ACN is going to do business with a corupt country that tell illegals how to invade the United States. THose people can barely afford to rub two peso's together and somebody at ACN thinks they are a good market ? so now REPS are going after barely can speak english poor Mexicans to think they will be their ticket to success in Mexico. I am so glad I didn't invest more than I did. I did loose some time with my kids which mean more to me than and amount of money that ACN can say I can earn.

ACN reps think if you live in Texas,California or Arizona that you are going to explode your business because of the merger with Mexico. HAs anybody thought about who has high speed internet in Mexico and who can afford a phone ? certainly not the regular persona in de Mexico. So all these poor Mexicans are getting $ 500.00 taken from them plus services they must get to qualify and it will be all for nothing.

I hate to tell you that....499 to start a business or even $1000.00 to start a business is unheard of. I own my own hardwood flooring business and let me tell you I didn't start with 499.00, obviously you have remorse....but you do have to (with no uncertain terms ) spend money to make money...in a business you have phones/fax/computers/lights/office equip/payroll etc etc etc...try paying that with $499 and see where that gets you! Good luck with your future... and yes I signed up with ACN Jan 1st 2009 and my husband and I both know nothing comes for free. Are we finacially strapped, you betcha..but we know with hard work, the right attitude ACN will give us all the rewards it promised!
as far as upgrading..have you not bought a video system lately..barbie even has upgrades.

Jennifer

Gina, I'm with you. It costs a lot of money to start a business and with ACN, the average joe has the chance to succeed. Just as with any business, you will get out what you put in. So work hard and you will do well. The NBC program is "The Celebrity Apprentice" and I don't think DT would put his name on something if it was a scam!

Jose

ACN!! It's All bull shit!!

Keep you pyramid scheme

The Apprentice was a joke if ACN was hoping for free publicity.
I've read more negative about this business than positive. I don't need another gadget or piece of equipment. Video technology is already hear for much less than $ 500 and a hard sell to all your friends. Just get a $ 60 camera for your computer and use Skype or Ichat or any other online service- and talk for free!

blooMer

I happen to believe that all this negativity comes from people who spend every day working their life away for close to minimum wage and when an opportunity like ACN comes along, they expect to sign up, do minimal work and receive large amounts of cash. IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. I own a very succesful salon/spa and I jumped on the ACN opportunity when it was presented to me. I know how to make money and it made perfect sense! The business-minded will recognize that it takes hard work and a substantial investment before you begin to see a return. It is those do not research what they are getting into that feel 'scammed' or 'duped'. I am a Mexican-American with dual citizenship and I find only ignorant people still asume that all people in Mexico are still communicating through cans and string. 99% of my friends and family in Mexico have HIGH SPEED internet and better cell phones than half of my friends in the states. ACN negotiating with Carlos Slim (a self-made billionaire and CEO of America Movil, the SECOND RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD and a MEXICAN citizen) to bring this company into Mexico presents a HUGE opportunity for ACN as well as its representatives.
On a personal side note, I could 'barely speak english' when I came (or "invaded") this country and I have seen more success in my short life than most who were born and raised in the states, and apparently I can even spell better :)
Success is not about background or money but a mindset. If you have the drive and endurance you can do just about anything and maybe even have the privilege to help others do the same.

I am an ACN independent representative, the difference between ACN and other mlm's is the products. people use them daily and the compensation is superior to anything i have ever seen. the thing you must remember is that the ACN is an opportunity to own your own business, not a job. there are no guarantees and all moneys paid are based on personal effort, the more work you put in the more money you make. No money is made without customers being acquired (can't just recruit people and get rich) and everyone starts from the same position and can excel to any height. I don't recommend ACN to everyone because it does take hard work and mental growth and frankly as you'll probably read, some people would rather give excuses as to why they didn't make money than to learn a system and build a business. If you are a person with drive, this is the vehicle to take you where you want to go. if you still believe it is a scam that's cool too because it isn't right for everyone. it's not a scam it just takes a self motivation some people don't possess. if you have an employee mindset and need to be told what to do before you take any action in life i would say don't waste your money this isn't right for you. and that's cool. I still need someone to make my sandwich when i go to subway, I just like nice things which require money so the 9-5 thing doesn't work for me. I have owned traditional businesses where i employ people and work them as hard as i can for little to try and keep my profits up. that is a pyramid as is any traditional business. ACN offers the opportunity to leverage your time as you would in traditional business, however it is in my best interest to help those i work with succeed because when they do i also benefit. (not like in traditional business) don't scowwer the internet looking for people to guarantee you success, you won't find it, you'll probably find lots of people who got in, didn't do anything, and called it a scam. broke people have more time to complain on a blog than rich people have to brag, think about it. call the better business bureau or other credible sources and do your research like a business owner not a teenager. i wish everyone success in whatever they do, be it this or something else. god bless

ACN is a bunch of crap! I was talked into trying the service, and after less than a year realizing I did not need it, cancelled the service! Now I've been goin round and round with these morons and butt heads for over a year. I paid the cancellation fees and they sent me to collections! F'N BASTARDS! I'm still dealing with this Shit! They are screwing my credit for 43.29 I would advise against ever dealing with this pyramid scam crap bullshit! I HATE THIS COMPANY WITH A F'N PASSION! I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL! Screw DT AS WELL, JUST BECAUSE HE'S RICH DON'T MEAN SHIT IF YOU'RE GONNA SCREW THE LITTLE GUY JUST TO GET AHEAD!I PAID THEIR LATE FEE AND THEY STILL DON'T SHOW IT. The communication is crap there! I would advise anyone who is thinking of dealing with this company to think twice!

E. Pena

These people are thieves!!!!! Absolute fn theives!!!!!!!!! They are stealing money from me.

Mr Phill Myckrakin

I am only going to say this once ACN IS BULLSHIT... I first heard about this thru my friend at work. Boy did thy do a job on him after weeks of him begging me to go to one of his meetings i gave in. Well what ever spell they were using i must of been imue to it. I saw right thru their bullshit. I took 500 in cash from my pocket and placed it on the table i told them before you take my money i need to see a copy of your policies and procedures. Well after these 2 clowns saw excactly how bad they themselves were gonna get fucked they were also out i mannaged to get my friends 500 dollars back from them that night plus they also quit and told their partners. suckers whatever you wanna call them what the deal was....and they also quit...i am so happy that my friend did not get fucked we opened an adult video store and we are making lots of money we are in negotiations to open our 7th store...by the way all those former acn suckers now work for us...call me THE ACN SLAYER>>>>>

MikeL

I can't believe the amount of people that join the ID-10-T club every day! I've been in MLM industry for over 25 years and I know EXACTLY what I am NOT interested in! ACN offers everything that I have looked for, from the integrity of the co-founders to the pure compensation plan "If you don't work, you don't eat!" No wimps allowed!
Have any of you ID-10-T Club members ever thought of calling the FCC? How about the BBB? No? Then you've certainly called the FTC, right? How about your own State Utilities Commissioner? Oh, then of course there's the local E911 authorities... have you tried them? Why don't you try starting at the top instead of the toilet walls called Google!
Are you serious? Nothing on Google has to be verifiable or validated... any one can write any thing, true or not! Do a College paper and put Google as your source of information and you'll flunk the class!
MLM is taught at the Harvard Business School for heaven sakes! Robert Kyosaki & Donald Trump co-author books telling you to get involved in MLM! Read Robert's book, "The Business School". You can find it on www.richdadpoordad.com ...
You want to look for a way to fail for sure? Keep the job you've got! That will certainly get you financial freedom, won't it! Unbelievable!

Rik

Is anyone making any money in A C N
YES there are many people from many different walks of life making money in A C N. Some are making a ton of it.

Donagh

If you are looking at making money on the internet with this business, you should check out our website, you'll be amazed.

Professional

Interesting to notice that the people who can't spell are the ones that say ACN is bullshit or a scam.

Probably because people who are unsuccessful in other areas of life are also unsuccessful at ACN. That does not mean ACN is a scam.

Someone with a work ethic and a 2 to 3 year time frame will be successful at ACN if he puts at least 5 to 10 hours a week in and goes to saturday trainings.

Someone without a work ethic can stay at his job for the next 40 years and complain about everyone else and busines who is successful and call them scams and assign blame everywhere else than where to truly belongs.

Pedro

Though many of us believe that MLM businesses are cons, this isn't always the case. Some like ACN are classed as pyramid swindles, which is not the case. Nevertheless you should note that pyramid schemes make money from sign up costs and such charges without actually providing goods and services. This is not the case hence the allegations of ACN pyramid con aren't correct.

One wonders why ACN is labeled a rip-off. Is it because of the enrollment payment and subsequent monthly fees to enroll for the MLM promotion? It would naturally seem to imply that those registering would aim to win something in return for their funds they have contributed. Not all will gain in this manner, leading to claims that the operation is a scam.

What makes it not be a ponzi operation, is the incontrovertible fact that they deal with the promoting of telecommunication services. It is the reason as to the reasons why they partner with telecommunication multinationals such as sprint, T-mobile, Verizon, direct TV and ATT among others . These established corporations would not be enthusiastic to work side by side with ACN if the claims were right. This would damage their reputation irretrievably.

The start up amount needed, which is in the area of 500 US dollars, compared with what is required to start a business, is essentially minimum. For any partaker to realize good returns, they should work hard and stop treating it as a spare time pursuit.

It's also important to note why the MLM approach is employed in spite of its connection with pyramid swindles. Since companies need to grow, they want more customers and staff to handle the extra obligations. The MLM approach is better as the employees / representatives are also customers.

Considering all these aspects it is clear that ACN pyramid scam claims are not primarily based on facts. If you're looking for a way to earn income this is a fantastic opportunity. You need to actually check out the ACN free report on how to achieve success in Multi Level Marketing.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH ACN. I've been robbed of my $500+ by ACN as well. I am ashamed of myself for being so stupid about this scheme too. They make you sign a contract that basically protects them from any issues that could arrise in the future. They use their telecommunication services as a cover up. They will promise you everything up front, tell you that even Donals Trumps involved with ACN (whoopy fucking do) then once you pay 500 they keep asking for more. Donald Trump probably gets 10% of your 500 Dollars. You think that SOB sucks corporate ass for free?

Kathleen

Hi there,

I am sad for anyone who joins ACN and leaves unhappy. That being said, with the way this company works, I believe you have to be a self-motivated person and a go getter in order to be successful at this business.

I made my $499 back in just a week. I am kicking butt and my legs are growing like wild fire. I am so excited for this business, especially with energy coming up.

As for those who say ACN is a scam, there is no way that multi-million and billion dollar company's would allow us to use their services, use their logo, and further more, there is no way that NBC would be airing a 2 hour solid segmant all about ACN and what we do. Not to mention that Donald Trump is a huge endorser of ACN and has even tried buying the company.

When you sign up, they tell you that this is not a get rich quick scheme, and that if you are not willing to put forth the effort, to not join ACN but give us your services so we can save you money. Every meeting I have gone to, I have heard this and to me, this goes to show you they do not want people to sign up and waste their money if they are not going to be willing to work and acquire customers.

In order for you to know what ACN is all about and what you will get out of joining ACN, is by going to the meetings, where you will meet several people in the business, and people who are very successful from joining ACN. I have only been a rep for a month, and if all I make is my money back, and be able to write off all of these services, a portion of my house and all my travel and meal expenses, then it is still worth it. However, that is not my goal, I know I will make a killing by the end of the year:)

Do not sign up if you think you are going to not have to do anything. If you are not going to spend at least 10 hours a week or more in this business, you are wasting your time, and I guarantee that is why people do not succeed in this business.

Where else can you sign up for your own business with only $499? ACN is AMAZING!!!

Thanks,

Katy

Investigation Services

A successful pyramid scheme combines a fake yet seemingly credible business with a simple to understand yet sophisticated-sounding money-making formula which is used for profit. To enhance credibility, most such scams are well equipped with fake referrals, testimonials, and information. The flaw is that there is no end benefit. The money simply travels up the chain.

Georgina

I'm with you Katy. ACN is AMAZING! We signed up in October last year (4 months ago). We haven't got paid yet because we are not quite at ETT (but very close). We are working super hard and even though we have not seen any money yet, our attitude is very positive. We don't think of tomorrow, we think 4 years from now. And I cannot wait for that time!

Your attitude in this business is everything!

Kris

Well from what I read 50% of you are reps while the rest of you are people who went for the THEORY OF "GET QUICK RICH" Unless your a website genius it's not going to happen that easy. I've done a few of the multi level marketing deals. Juice, legal lawyers, and alarms. I also own my own business. Business takes Time, Money, Ability to Overcome. Not to mention license fees, equipment or office fees and so much more. The very least your out $3000- $5000 minimum if you run your business out of your house.
For those Looking for up to date info on "is ACN for me" look no further. If you can answer yes to the following then it's a good fit for you.
Is what your doing not doing enough for you financially?
Do you love what your doing and can you do it the rest of your life?
Are you friendly where you can strike up conversation with anyone anywhere anytime?
Can you Budget $1000 to start a new career/business?
Simple questions right.
To Start off right I say Budget a $1000 cause to properly offer what ACN has available to customers the best way is to demo products. Sure you can start for $499 and Call your friends and family. But that ends quick. Now what. Now it's time to be friendly and meet people. Time to GIVE A DAMN in other words. Not just because you want them as a customer but because you want to see the best for them and will help them all you possibly can. So When it comes time to "give a damn" it helps if you have the video phone or the mobile internet device you can demo to the people you talk to.
ACN a Scam? No It's legit and the money is real to. If you need a real person to talk to check out my site www.softball.acnrep.com My contact info is there and I'd be happy to bring my team out where ever you are and get you off and running. If you just need services I'm happy to help.
Know one thing: "Negative people are always broke. People who post scam reports are always broke. People who complain that life owes them millions are always broke." If you do one thing today I ask you to do this. Make friends with someone who is doing well in life. Get rid of dead beat friends holding you from your potential. Surround yourself with people who want more out of life and have the bank accounts to back it up. Whether ACN is right for you or not that's up to you. It's not for everyone. I don't make money off someone signing up. I make money if they succeed. With A good team your never alone. My team is Solid. We keep you going and make sure your capable of riding without the training wheels. I hope you find a business like that if ACN isn't for you.
