Woodman Park School will be holding a Vendor and Craft Fair to benefit the Woodman Park School PTO, on Friday, April 14, from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Woodman Park School gym.

Direct sales representatives for companies including Arbonne, Noah�s Ark Animal Workshop, Scent-Sations, Mary Kay, Creative Memories, Home & Garden Party and Southern Living At Home will be at the fair. Many crafters will be on hand, featuring hand-made baskets, fashion jewelry and accessories, fill-your-own candy dishes, hand-poured soy wax candles, silver, gold freshwater pearl and semi-precious stone jewelry, crocheted mice and bunnies dressed for the holidays, fabric crafts, children�s sewn toys, blankets, aprons, crayon holders and purses, original hand beaded and wire earrings and necklaces, garden decor, professional face painting, handmade greeting cards and other hand-painted items and children�s/babies T-shirts and onesies, hats and diaper bags.

Fundraising often is a tedious and relentless necessity for most organizations and school groups.With the exception perhaps of Girl Scout cookies, it can be tiring selling the same old products to the same people, month after month, year after year. And some smaller organizations might find it difficult to scrape together the start-up costs for larger commercial fundraisers.

That’s why Virginia Beach resident Jennifer Burnham decided to start and use her home-based business to help further the causes of others. Thus, Freedom With Candles, home of Freedom Fundraisers, was born.“I am a local Navy wife, mother and small-business owner who enjoys helping people reach their goals,” she said. “I work with schools, military groups, animal rescue groups and even families that need to raise money for medical or special circumstances.”

Burnham is licensed to run her own business and partnered with Scent-Sations, Inc., in August. The Pennsylvania-based company is home of the Mia Bella’s Cleaner Burning Gourmet Candles and other gourmet products, such as a soy beauty bar. Most groups opt to sell the all-natural candles as a fundraiser, she said.
