Alternatives

     I run into people almost every day who say that they would like "a shot" at something. Whether it is getting the promotion at work, a successful casting call, or a real business opportunity with meaningful potential. The same people have often been approached by Amway, Quixtar, Herbalife, or any of the other myriad of well exposed, traditional MLM's.

     The first reaction to those plans by these "lookers" seems to be skepticism. The two main tools used by MLM's to overcome this skepticism are the "curiosity approach", and association or introductions to successful participants in the programs. The downside of the curiosity approach is the feeling that something must be hidden; in order to be successful you must learn to hide the truth, if not to outright lie. The curiosity approach takes a lot of time and practice to do well, and will backfire often.

     Association with successful people can be effective - everyone wants to know someone who has "made it". Knowing that someone has "made it", and that you can as well - if you follow the program being sold - is the basis of the simplicity in Network Marketing.
