Tupperware Nostalgia
Alleyways, screened-in porches and Victorian street lamps conjure up images of old-fashioned neighborhoods where children played in front yards and homemakers hosted Tupperware parties.
Builders are trying to re-create some of this nostalgia with designs that hearken back to an earlier time.In the Mission Bend area, Ryland Homes is building cottage-style homes where the garages open on to the alleys.
Starting in the $120,000s, the homes have brick and stone exteriors or traditional shake siding and wood shutters and have names like the Hickory and the Oakton.
