The Marketer's Manifesto

Where's WWDB Brad Wolgamott?

Brad Wolgamaott is suspiciously missing from the World Wide Dream Builders (WWDB) website.  Brad's wife Leslie has her picture on the site.  Leslie was reportedly alone during this weekend's River Rendezvous at Ron Puryear's River House.

WWDB is training and motivation system founded by Ron Puryear that "helps" Amway Global IBO's build their business.

Brad and Leslie Wolgamott were Double Diamonds sponsored by Brad and Julie Duncan in the World Wide Group.

Here is the picture from before:

Amway's Candace Matthews is Black Enterprise magazine's Corporate Executive of the Year

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway Global Logo From MLive:

The woman credited with fine-tuning Amway's global image is garnering the spotlight herself.

Candace Matthews is Black Enterprise's Corporate Executive of the Year.

Amway Corp.'s global marketing chief officer is featured on the September cover of the business magazine -- which hits newsstands today -- holding a globe.

Matthews, 50, is the first private company executive to receive the honor.

In her two years with the family-owned, multilevel marketing giant, she is credited with updating the Ada Township-based company's brand, sales force and global message.

"Through her business prowess and inventiveness, she is helping turn Amway into an even more dynamic global powerhouse," wrote the magazine in explaining why Matthews was selected for the award.

Millionaire Murdered at Amway Convention

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway Global Logo This from the Miami Herald:

RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- This needle-shaped suburb on the outskirts of New York City has had just a handful of homicides since becoming a village in 1982.

But now they have a doozy -- a steamy saga of wealth, privilege, kinky sex games, marital disharmony, family dysfunction and vodoo, shipped straight from the Sunshine State. Not to mention the latest plot twist: The murdered man was having an extramarital affair, multiple law enforcement sources confirm, although no one can say if it had any bearing on his fate.

The victim is Ben Novack Jr., son of the founder of the Fontainebleau and a successful Fort Lauderdale businessman in his own right.

He was found duct-taped and bludgeoned on the morning of July 12 in Suite 452 of the Hilton Rye Brook, where he was overseeing an Amway convention. His wife discovered the body.

Amway India posts 25% growth in 2009

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway Global Logo India seems to be a booming market for good old Amway.

From IndianExpress:

India’s Direct Selling (DS) FMCG, Amway India, has logged 25% growth in Punjab in 2009 by doing business worth Rs 30 crore in the first seven months of 2009.

The company, which nationally grew by 40% in recession-hit 2008, touching Rs 1128 crore worth sales (from Rs 800 crores in ‘07), expects its national sales to cross Rs 2,500 crores by 2012. Bhavun Kapur, regional manager (North), said that the company would triple its production capacity by year-end.

Speaking to the mediapersons in Ludhiana, Bhuvan Kapur said, “Our sales this year in Punjab have registered a 25% jump, and has touched Rs 30 crores. This is in tune with overall trend in the north, where we have notched up sales of Rs 190 crores in ‘09, compared to Rs 154 crores in ‘08.”

Kapur added that with five offices and one warehouse in Punjab, Amway had been able to home-deliver its products to 62 towns and cities in Punjab, and has held around 500 product training sessions in the state.

Amway spends $24.5 Million on Name Change

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway logo From Forbes.com:

...The rebranding strategy doesn't always work. In 1999, multilevel marketer Amway changed its name to Quixtar in North America. In doing so, Amway hoped to tap into the e-commerce boom with a tech-y sounding name. It also tried to distance itself from the shady associations that dogged the company. (Not true, says Steve Lieberman, vice president and managing director of Amway Global. "We weren't trying to hide from the name because for the first two years the names Quixtar and Amway coexisted, and Amway continued to exist overseas," Lieberman says.) But last year, after five years of flat North American sales, Amway reversed course.

The new name hadn't stuck, and international markets--where the Amway brand still existed--were outperforming North America. "Even though we hadn't used the Amway name in nine years, it still had a 90% brand awareness, compared to 3% from Quixtar," says Lieberman. So last year, the company retired Quixtar and reintroduced Amway with print, radio, online and TV ads. According to TNS Media Intelligence, Amway parent company Alticor spent $24.5 million on advertising, including $15 million in TV ads alone between October and March.

Amway sponsors environmental theme park in China

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

From OpportunityZone.com:

The Haidian Park in Beijing was a green sea of joy on June 13 and 14. That’s where the Amway Environmental Theme Park was kicked off, co-sponsored by the China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) and Amway.

The idea of a carnival theme park is not new to the Chinese people. But the Amway Environmental Theme Park is the first of its kind in China. It combines interactive experience with targeted education. It’s also the first large-scale environmental protection activity since CEPF set up the “Amway Environmental Protection Fund for Public Good.”

The theme park offered more than 20 games and exhibits, with names like Green Life Identification, Forest Police, Slam Dunk of Environmental Protection, Penguin Returns to Antarctica and Environmental Protection Superman. Throughout the exhibits, cartoon characters Polar Bear Lele and Little Water Drop take visitors through a time-space tunnel of environmental changes, providing a systematic introduction to environmental knowledge.

Green Life Identification consists of more than 30 actions for environmental protection in daily life. It helps enhance people’s environmental awareness by identifying the blind spots of environmental protection. The games are designed to deliver lessons in an invisible and intangible manner.

The event attracted 20,000 people from 7,000 families in two days. With the success of this first theme park in Beijing, more will be rolled out in Xi'an, Harbin, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xiamen, Shanghai and Wuhan this year, and expect to attract 300,000 more visits.

Amway Global at 50: Owners are independents

It seems like everywhere you turn these days someone is talking about Direct Sales and the opportunities available with Mult-level Marketing. Seems our industry is entering a golden-age!

NewCustomLeadLogo From The Washington Times:

Ilkyung Sin came to the United States 10 years ago from Korea eager to pursue the American dream and start her own business. Lacking start-up capital and strong English language skills, she at first encountered tough going.

But today, Ms. Sin is one of more than 3 million people who have found success being distributors for Amway Global, which celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Baltimore Convention Center earlier this month. Distributors sell vitamins, skin care, cosmetics, energy drinks or cleaning products.

Amway, a direct selling company founded in 1959, has markets in 58 countries worldwide, and many U.S. Amway distributors come from other nations. It uses multilevel marketing to sell a wide variety of products, primarily in the health-and-beauty industry. It is ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the largest private companies in the United States and by Deloitte magazine as one of the largest retailers in the world.

Amway Global opens "Experience Center" in Brazil

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway Brazil Store From Amway Watch:

Rio de Janeiro was the location for Amway to open it's first "concept" shop in Brazil. The opening was held yesterday, August 18, 2009. The store encompasses 500m2 in the center of Rio. Another "Amway Experience Center" is planned to open in Sao Paulo in November.

The shop symbolises a repositioning of the brand in Brazil, which arrived in the country as a company known for home care products. Amway do Brasil today is focused on health and beauty and has created specialized packaging designed for the Brazilian market.

The choice of location was made with an eye to public traffic and to also attract entrepreneurs and resellers. Besides offering their natural products for health and beauty, the Amway Experience Center also offers trainings to  Amway business owners and consumers. Experts are available to help the consumer chose the most appropriate products for them.

Amway has invested $230million in the Latin American markets, a number it expects to more than double by 2012, with plans to open six more concept stores.

Amway Changes Name Again (3rd Time)

The one thing that many Amway Global (previously Quixtar and before that Amway)  IBO's point to is the consistency of the company. They often say things like "when all these other copycats are out of business, we'll still be here".

What these IBO's may not realize of that "these copycats" account for over $90 Billion in sales around the globe.

Lastly, (if you want to get technical), Amway IBO's from before 1999 have been in 3 different businesses.

Amway, Quixtar (fail?) and now Amway Global.

Of course ask them what they are in and you are not likely to hear any of these company names.
