Amway Australia Chooses Best Job In The World Island for 2010 Conference

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Amway has chosen Hamilton Island as the site for the Amway Australia 2010 Conference. Hamilton Island is the site for the "Best Job In The World" contest that awarded one lucky winner the job as caretaker for Hamilton Island for six months.

Amway Global Logo Amway Australia general manager Michial Coldwell cited the success of the "Best Job In The World" campaign as the tipping point in choosing Hamilton Island as the site for the Amway Australia 2010 Conference.

Here's an excerpt from the story at the The Australian:

More than 34,000 entries from almost 200 countries were submitted and media coverage about the campaign has been valued at more than $200m. At the same time, an estimated three billion people have been exposed to the campaign.

The campaign, which began with simple press ads in newspaper classifieds looking for applicants for The Best Job in the World -- being a caretaker on Hamilton Island for six months -- used websites, YouTube and was an extension of the government's existing Islands of the Barrier Reef campaign.

Mr Morris said that the campaign had attracted attention by offering an experience money can't buy. "It was a hook to gain media and consumer interest," he said.

Mr Morris said while the campaign had been launched in one of Tourism Queensland's core target markets, the UK, it has transcended international boundaries by bringing a massive return on investment in Europe, North America and south east Asia where travel partners such as airlines offered special deals linked to the campaign.

Hamilton Island has already benefited with increased tourist numbers and Amway Australia choosing it as the destination for its 2010 conference.

Last month, Amway Australia general manager Michial Coldwell said publicity surrounding Best Job had tipped the balance in Hamilton Island's favour.

Mr Morris said interest in the outcome of the promotion was so high 22 international and domestic media crews attended the announcement of the winner on Hamilton Island.

MLM - Network Marketing With Twitter

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Twitter Unless you've been living under a rock and/or you're a Luddite you've at least heard of Twitter. And unless you're Ashton Kutcher you'd like more followers!

Last week I wrote a post called Twitter vs. Facebook where I recommended a product called Twitter Traffic Machine. It's an awesome product but it costs a bit of money so I thought I'd introduce you to a Twitter Tool that you can get started with for free.

It's called TwitterHIT and it's free to get started. With TwitterHIT you can find friends and followers fast on Twitter and it's totally automated.

Here's a short description of Twitter from About.com:

What is Twitter?

This brings us back to the original question. What is Twitter? It is many different things to many different people. It can be used by a family to keep in touch, or a company to coordinate business, or the media to keep people informed or a writer to build up a fan base.

Twitter is micro-blogging. It is social messaging. It is an event coordinator, a business tool, a news reporting service and a marketing utility.

There. That wasn't so hard, was it?

So check out TwitterHIT and happy Tweeting!

If you still don't know what Twitter is here's a cute, short video that explains Twitter:

Tupperware is like drugs for Asians

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Psst! Wanna buy some Tupperware?

Tupperware Here's an interesting article from Asians In Media (AIM) Magazine:

What is the fixation that mums, aunties, nans (nannijis), and grans (bibijis) have with plastic containers? It’s like Asian women have an addiction to plastic Tupperware!

The person that sets up the first ‘Tupperware Addiction Clinic’ for Asian women is going to make a lot of money - probably some Asian guy who will acquire a forged certificate from India.

Every Asian family has one cupboard in the kitchen that resembles a shrine to plastic Tupperware, or dubbai. Many Asian families even have stockpiles in the garage. Imagine that: a temple filled with every type of plastic container. I wonder if aunties take their shoes off and cover their heads as a mark of respect before entering the Tupperware temple.

Like most Tupperware (drugs), plastic-container users (otherwise affectionately known as ‘dubbai women’) can exist in many addictive forms ranging from the low-level addict to the hard-core.

First, the auntie who is a low level addict (merchandise includes ice cream containers and those cheap microwaveable plastic boxes you get from the local takeaway). This is the kind of Asian woman that keeps plastic containers ‘just in case’.

She happily trades containers with other low-level addicts and never complains as long as the number of containers stays the same: they can happily increase, but they can never drop! If there is a reduction in number, this can cause a lot of anxiety to the low-level addict, and often a refusal to hand out any more plastic containers can be observed by the subtle yet assertive request that fellow low-level addicts bring their own.

Now in theory this seems perfectly adequate in any other social situation. Imagine a guy hosting a party and saying to his mates, “Hey, I’m having a party; bring a bottle!” Asian women feel the same way about recycling plastic containers.

Pre-Paid Legal Gets Sued for Legal Malpractice

By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent

Here's an ironic twist for Pre-Paid Legal...

From The Philadelphia Gay News:

Pre-Paid Legal Jonathan J. James, a local civil-rights attorney who’s handled many LGBT-related cases, has been sued for legal malpractice in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.

Dr. Don Walter Kannangara, an infectious-disease specialist, contended James failed to give him adequate legal representation, resulting in the permanent suspension of Kannangara’s staff privileges at two local hospitals.

In a brief interview, Kannangara said his staff privileges at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Girard Medical Center in North Philadelphia were temporarily suspended in February 2007, after he complained about substandard and unsafe conditions at the hospitals.

Kannangara said some personnel at the hospitals failed to practice basic hygiene such as washing their hands with sanitizing lotion prior to treating patients.

He said incorrect lab results for patients resulted in serious medical errors. Additionally, he said, some patients with HIV were neglected and not given their medications. Conversely, unnecessary medical treatments were ordered for other patients, Kannangara told PGN.

The doctor said he notified various oversight agencies about his concerns, including the state Attorney General’s Office, the state Health Department and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, which certifies more than 15,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the U.S.

To his knowledge, no corrective action was taken at the hospitals, he said. “Instead, I was punished for making the complaints,” Kannangara said.
