and a bonus from 1995. I was sitting in center field for this game in the Kingdome and I thought that the bleachers were going to come down. People were jumping up and down and I have never heard a louder place in my life.

To finish up, I will tell you about my one chance meeting with Ken Griffey Jr.  I was at the Southcenter Mall, Victoria's Secret browsing at boxer shorts while waiting for my wife and who is also in the boxer shorts section...Ken Griffey Jr.  I asked him for his autograph on the back of an ATM receipt and he gave it to me, but first he pretended to sign it Mike Tyson.  It was classic and I will never forget it.

School's Out For Summer

Thanks to a couple of delays because of snow and power outages, school finally let out for my 2 kids today.  After the closing ceremony, my daughter went to a Bar-B-Q with some friends so my wife and I took out soon out for lunch. After lunch, we all came back home and I went back to my office to get some work done. As I was trying to come up with some words to finish off an article I was writing, my son decided it was a good time to stand at the door of my office and babble.

I gently reminded him that I had to work and he zipped it for about 10 seconds and then went right back to the babbling. I mean serious babbling, like part singing and part gibberish. After the 3rd reminder, I realized that today is a special day and the adrenaline levels are running pretty high because of the excitement of the last day of school.  I almost went into my loud Dad voice that reminds the kids about food on the table and just because Dad works at home, doesn't mean it's all fun and games, etc., but I held back,  The last day of school is special and I can remember many of my last day of the school year days, so I let the boy babble.

Now that I think about it, my kids are actually less distracting than some of the people I worked with while I was in corporate life.

In fact, many times I was required to listen to babbling that made about as much sense as my son today.

I suspect that the next time he starts babbling, I'll listen with a different perspective and consider the fact that it could be a lot worse.

Set Small Work At Home Goals

Are you ready to kill your job and start earning your income from home?

On with today's tip on setting small goals.

The first goal I want you to set is to earn an average of $10 a day online. $10 may not seem like a lot, but it is over $300 in extra income a month. Remember, you are no longer on a 20 day work/pay cycle. 

You can now get paid 30 days a month!

I think that an ongoing stream of $10 a day can be made by applying 15 to 30 one hour days. That's 15 to 30 hours or consistent work. We'll call these hours "Kill Your Job" hours. Most businesses take some money to start but our goal will be to have you in the black at the end of the 15 to 30 day push.

If you are wondering, I have a specific outline for anyone that would like to do this and while I am looking for a couple of people to do the case study, I am willing to share the plan with others in addition to the case study folks.

It's Time To Get Serious

I just returned home from a wonderful Father's Day weekend in Cannon Beach, Oregon with my wife's family.  If you ever venture to Cannon Beach, I suggest staying at the Tolovana Inn and having at least one meal at the Warren House Pub. I ate great food, drank good beer, built sand castles, roasted marshmallows for s'mores and swam with my kids in the indoor pool. I am well rested and ready to get busy.

When I re-committed myself to this blog a few weeks ago, I didn't completely know what was going to come out of it.  Over the last couple of weeks a couple of things really stuck with me and I have been thinking about them often:

1. The fact that my generation is poorer than my fathers generation.

2. Climbing the corporate ladder requires giving up your personal life in order to serve the corporation.

My focus? Help men (and women) get off the ladder.  I am going to do all that I can to help men kill their jobs and buy back their lives, spending more time with their wife and kids. Working from home is my greatest accomplishment and now I am ready to help you do the same.

Refreshing Take on Women and the Corporate Ladder

I just found Penelope Trunk, who describes herself as, author, columnist, former executive and serial entrepreneur.  She has a great blog and I plan on reading her book in the near future. Penelope linked to the Work at Home Dad blog a while back, but I just noticed the link.

Sorry lads, I think Penelope is married, but if she is not married, send flowers now. Heck, send her flowers even if she is married, just sign them, "Your Loving Hubby". That's gotta be good karma.

The post I found at Penelope's blog was outstanding. Here is a snip:

I hate to dis Catalyst because they have provided great research to support women in the work place. But here’s a bit from their most recent study: “Most large U.S. companies have made scant progress in advancing women…to leadership and top-paying positions over the past decade.”

DUH!!!!

It’s clear at this point that women are basically stuck on their climb up the corporate ladder. In general, climbing the corporate ladder to the top requires giving up your personal life in order to serve the corporation. And research has shown that if women are willing to give up having kids, (or at least have a stay-at-home husband,) they can climb as well as men.

But really, why fight to get more women up a ladder that is basically dysfunctional? We should, instead, focus on helping men to get off the ladder. And then helping both men and women to get meaningful and rewarding work both outside and inside the home.

The bold part of the snip is where I come in.  My job is to help men (and women) kill their jobs so that they can work from home and live a happier life. I subscribed to Penelope's blog and I suggest you hurry on over and do the same.

eBay Yanks Google Ads Because of Google Checkout eBay Live Party?

According to Scot Wingo, CEO of Channeladvisor and author of eBay Strategies (and I just comfirmed by checking a handful of keywords as well), eBay has pulled their Adwords advertising from Google. Apparently this is due to a Google Checkout Party being held at eBay Live.

Here is a snip from Scot's post:

The big question - in this battle who is hurt worse?  Google or eBay.  I'm going to go with eBay, they are much more reliant on that quality google traffic than Google is on eBay's ad spend.  Sure, eBay is a top advertiser, but other advertisers will 'fill-in' so the net loss to Google is substantially lower than eBay probably anticipates...

...(ebay traffic starting June 13 drops by 20-40%)

For those of you who don't know, I was once a high flying eBay PowerSeller.  I had a warehouse, (I guess I  have a warehouse since I still pay for it), 4 employees and one of the fastest growing small businesses in the State of Washington. Then eBay lost their mind.  While the site traffic was taking a 50% dip, they decided to more than double the fees over an 18 month time frame.

eBay can not afford to lose the traffic that Google adwords provides them so I suspect that this won't last long.

Work At Home Dad Approved: Safeco Offers Device to Keep Tabs on Teen Drivers

Safeco Insurance is offering parents a way to keep tabs on their teen drivers through a customized GPS unit that tracks car speed, distance from home and will even alert you when the car is being driven outside of set hours. Oh yeah. That's what I am talkin' about. My lil' Punkin will be 10 years old in July so I expect that the technology will be even better once she starts to drive but this is a great step in the right direction.

Add in a nice gun collection (I need to work on that) and the private eye tag team of her little brother and I and the first date should go off smoothly.
