Work At Home Dad Top Pick: Network Marketing

After close to a year of not actively building a Network Marketing business, I am now back in the field with Max International. During my sabbatical from building, I spent nine months hanging with Todd Falcone as a consultant to his training business. Can you imagine having a 7-Figure Network Marketing earner pay you to work and travel with them? Needless to say, I sucked up a lot of great knowledge from Todd. I love the guy and would do anything for him. Todd is one of the most generous people I know.

Todd and I did events in Baltimore, Philly, Dallas, Chicago, Raleigh, Vancouver BC, Long Beach, and Phoenix, meeting wonderful people and tremendous leaders.

As the year was coming to a close, I really began itching to get back to building and shortly after that, I was exposed to Max International. I was flown into the company in the second week of January along with my business partner, Bo Short. After meeting with the company ownership and management team, seeing the long term vision and better understanding the product and compensation plan, Bo and I decided to “hit it”.

The crazy part about deciding to actively build Max is that 3 days after visiting the company, I was off to Thailand for a three week vacation with my family. I bought a cell-phone in Bangkok and sent emails out on a daily basis, but I’m sure that I was little help as Bo got us qualified as top company revenue and associate recruiters in our first month (really 2 weeks).

I returned February 5th and promptly got sick for another week, but I was so excited that I would work for 30 minutes and then go back to bed for 3 hours, several times a day. On or about February 11th, I began feeling better and going all out.

In the month of February, our team (Team MaxImpact) qualified 5 people as associate and revenue recruiters (out of nine honored by the company in the newsletter).

One thing I want to be very clear about is that we did not target our previous group (in another company) and 99% (or more) of our growth is brand new people. Some of these new folks are earning $1,500 to $2,500 in their first month but more importantly, many are earning a few hundred dollars.

This post is not an undercover attempt at recruiting people to work with us.

It is a blatant attempt to recruit great people to work with us.

Niche Network Marketing

After finding a remarkable product, find amazing peole to help you market it.

Niche marketing, on the other hand, can thrive if it starts with the assumption that average products by average people for average people is just not your thing. Remember, though, that your sales expectations have to be in line with your niche mantra. Be picky. Make great stuff. Work with amazing people. Just don't expect everyone to love what you do.

So how do you identify the best MLM's, those Top Picks? Here's the litmus test I use: Would a real person buy this product or service at the price being offered to the end user even if they couldn't earn a penney by being associated with it?

It can be a premium product at a premium price, but it needs to be unique and at a reasonable price even if it's a premium product.

Here's the second test I use: Could a distributor make a living just selling the product if they never recruited anyone? Not everyone can sell, but *could* a living be made by simply selling the product? (Yes that still applies whether you're MLM sells shampoo, vitamins or financial products. And in the best companies, this is still completely "doable".)

Persuasion Marketing

Michael Oliver truly "gets" Network Marketing.

You've most likely heard the saying, 'A man persuaded against his will is of the same opinion still'.

The use of persuasion is part of the conventional selling process. Persuasion creates resistance. It might be subtle, such as the other person agreeing to do something and then proceeding to not do it... or it might be more direct in the form of an objection or rejection. Feel what it's like when someone attempts to persuade you!

Stop persuading and people will stop resisting. Then you won't have to learn techniques to overcome objections! How do you do this? Allow people to come to their own conclusions and persuade themselves to do something different. Asking the 'right types of questions', using the magic of Dialogue, will help them do this.

The Evolution of Network Marketing

I have sensed a change in Network Marketing over the last 10 months since I started studying it more closely and believe that I can put my finger on two trends that will drive a drastic change in network marketing over the next few years.

The trends are Value and Technology.

1. Value. There are two parts to the Value equation. First, value must be trickled down from the Network Marketing company through the representative to the end user with regards to the product or service the Network Marketing company is selling. For example: Salon quality shampoo for $3.95. Secondly, the Network Marketing company must provide up front and continuing value to the representative. For example: Free Products and Free Websites upon sign-up.

2. Technology. A Network Marketing company must take advantage of today's technology. Conference Calls replace hotel meetings, MP3's replace CD's and Tape's, etc. Perhaps in the future: Web Meetings, Online Classroom Style Training, etc. Spending $200/month on hotel meetings and cassette tapes will become a thing of the past.

Companies and systems within companies that do not adapt will be squashed by companies that understand Value and Technology. I am not talking about one particular company dominating the industry, I am talking about a slough of companies that either adapt to what is happening and/or new companies that see an opportunity to fill this gap in the industry.
