Set Small Work At Home Goals

Are you ready to kill your job and start earning your income from home?

On with today's tip on setting small goals.

The first goal I want you to set is to earn an average of $10 a day online. $10 may not seem like a lot, but it is over $300 in extra income a month. Remember, you are no longer on a 20 day work/pay cycle. 

You can now get paid 30 days a month!

I think that an ongoing stream of $10 a day can be made by applying 15 to 30 one hour days. That's 15 to 30 hours or consistent work. We'll call these hours "Kill Your Job" hours. Most businesses take some money to start but our goal will be to have you in the black at the end of the 15 to 30 day push.

If you are wondering, I have a specific outline for anyone that would like to do this and while I am looking for a couple of people to do the case study, I am willing to share the plan with others in addition to the case study folks.

Microsoft Small Business Summit - Never Eat Alone

Best selling author, Keith Ferrazzi was the final keynote speaker at Microsoft's Small Business Summit. Here are the highlights from my notes:

• There should be no distinction between personal and business relationships.
• Joy can live with success.
• Skip the small talk and talk with people about passion, dreams and the future.
• Intimacy (a deep mutual understanding) is the core of success.
• Have a willingness to share who you are.
• Make business human.
• Create an environment around yourself that allows others to share a dream.

Keith was by far the highlight of the summit for me and judging by the standing ovation he got at the end of his speech, I was not alone in this thinking. I was also able to spend a few moments with him afterwords and noticed him take a sincere interest in the people he was speaking with.

The world of networking needs more Keith Ferrazzi.

A small law firm or accounting firm or ad agency is succeeding because they’re good, not because they’re big. So smart small companies are happy to hire them.

A small restaurant has an owner who greets you by name.

A small venture fund doesn’t have to fund big bad ideas in order to get capital doing work. They can make small investments in tiny companies with good (big) ideas.

A small church has a minister with the time to visit you in the hospital when you’re sick.

Tribble.org and Freebubba.com Get New Digs

We are pretty much moved into our new office/warehouse space. The Starbucks-esque paint job is dry, the computers are installed, networked and the wireless is getting 5 bars in every nook and cranny.

I had 5 interviews in Monday with incredible people. I placed an add on Craigslist the week before and the response was overwhelming. I would feel comfortable hiring four out of the five, but I need to narrow it down to one. If all goes well I will hire two more from this group in June/July.

Another benefit of the new building will be the ability to offer a full service solution for traditional companies that are looking to sell new, excess, and returned merchandise through internet channels.

The Loft

As I mentioned, I am in the process of moving my small business out of my home and into a new office/warehouse space. The space consists of two levels. The lower level includes offices in the front and warehouse to the rear and above the warehouse is a loft.

I am pretty excited about the loft for a number of reasons. First, the loft will be a space for my kids (and the kids of the people that come to work for us) to hang out. The kids space will include a TV, video games, board games and a ping pong table. OK, I admit it. The ping pong table is for me, but it will also serve as our conference table!

Second, the loft is going to be a space to hold free monthly eBay Selling Whiteboard Sessions. The loft is about 1000 sq/ft. and should hold at least 50 people comfortably. Not that I am expecting 50 people right away and I certainly don't have 50 chairs at this point, (as a matter of fact, I don't think I have any chairs) so it might be a good idea to BYOC or Bring Your Own Chair.
